JOB POSTING (Open Until Filled):
PreK-12 Special Education Teacher/Asst Director/Fine Arts Teacher to begin in January 2026-Candidate MUST be willing and able to drive a school bus and accept routes and activity trips.
Annual Salary Range: $55000-98383 according to TMS Salary Schedules
(salary commensurate with experience; 160 days per school year)

Additional pay for bus routes, according to trips/routes
In collaboration with building principals, this unique role combines the responsibilities of delivering high-quality special education instruction with the administration and reporting of SPED services district-wide. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, compassionate educator with strong organizational skills and a commitment to student success.
Key Responsibilities Include:
· Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities in grades K-12.
· Deliver differentiated instruction in inclusive and/or self-contained classroom settings, ensuring alignment with state standards and student goals.
· Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create a supportive learning environment.
· Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies to promote academic, behavioral, and social growth.
· Maintain accurate records and comply with federal, state, and district regulations for special education.
· 1-2 Periods of Fine Arts Development at all levels.
· Bus Route duties as assigned
Successful candidates will have, or will be able to obtain before 1/1/2026:
· Good character and current background check
· Reliable schedule during the 160 instructional days during the Tatum Municipal Schools academic year.
· Degree in Special Education or a related field
· Valid NM teaching certification in Special Education (PreK-12).
· Elective Endorsement or equivalent experience leading student elective classes (e.g., Art and/or Drama).
· Knowledge of IEP development, special education laws, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
· Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including after-school activities and bus routes.
· Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
· Valid NM School Bus Driver Certification (CDL with School Bus and Passenger endorsements).
